• Only by recognizing where money comes from can we be free from its power. (Ps 24:1, Mark 4: 14 – 21, 10: 17 – 37)
Here we are talking about Stewardship. A steward knows that he just a steward and not the owner of the possession. He knows where it comes from. And it is by recognizing and accepting its ownership a steward can remain faithful to it and will understand the value and power the possession. It is the same with money. Money comes from God and every Christian should realize and accept it. This enables him / her to continue to depend on his Master and be faithful to his duty. His faithfulness and dependency lead him to be free from the temptation and lust of money and possession. It is owner of the money is the Master rather than the money of the owner is Master. A steward can free form such power, lust and bondage only by recognizing and accepting that the possession belongs to and comes from his Master.
As far as Christians are concerned, stewardship involves the responsibility of managing God's work through the church. God has appointed all Christians to be His stewards on earth. Stewardship is not an option, as Paul points out about his own call. Being a steward is a necessary part of believing the gospel, even if it involves sacrificing personal rewards (1 Cor. 9:17).
As the parable of the talents (Matt 25:14-30) shows, Christians will be held accountable for the way in which they manage God's affairs as stewards. These matters include extending the church's ministry through the preaching of the gospel (Col 1:24-28), supporting the church financially (Acts 4:32-37), and ministering to the sick and needy (Matt 25:31-46).
• Money traps us in to wanting more. Instead of satisfying, money makes us hunger for it. Mk 10: 17 – 22
The passage that is there before us talks about a young man and Christ encountering with a single question asked by the rich young man, who was a ruler – master what shall I do to inherit the eternal life?
Again here I would like to bring to your notice that the person who asked this question to Jesus was every much Young, a Ruler a well as Rich enough. He had Strength, Power as well as Money. Yet he lacked the needy thing I the life – the salvation. He was not satisfied in his life. He was not a bad man of the society rather a respected well known person yet was not been found himself complete and satisfy.
The young man sadly failed to gain the eternal life and follow Jesus Christ by his won power, position and possession. What he had could not satisfy him; he wanted more and more of it than to follow Christ as his disciple by sacrificing all of his belongings. Lets makes clear here that His money could not satisfy him rather made him hungrier of it.
The point is satisfaction. Every one here would wish to satisfy himself in every ting that we do, say give or receive. But it is that fact that every satisfaction is been purchased not by money. Money cannot satisfy us rather keep us hungrier. It leads us to more to want more of it. Money has real meaning i.e. BUY ; Money can only do one thing i.e. BUY. Money only say one ting i.e. BUY and Money has only one purpose to BUY.
• Money is not just Money, it is Power. Money is to be used for God. Isa. 55: 1 – 9, Acts 4:32; I Tim 6 ; 10 - 12
Well friend BUYING in it self is not sin at all. But what we buy is the matter to God as Christian. Let money Buy but according to the acceptable Will of God and for the Glory of God alone. Thus we say money in it self is not a sin but for the Glory of God. Money is blessing it is power and value. But it useless and just thing unless it is used for God and according to His direction. It become snare from source if we miss use it. It is lust when we become its servant. Let money be our master but let we be the Master of money.
Jesus made this truth very clearly by telling that what is belongs to Creaser must be given to Creaser and what is belongs to God must be given to God. Job replied to his wife that it is God who Gives and it is God who Takes.
Glory be to God for money belongs to God alone for the earth and its fullness there of belongs to God.
